You’ve sat down and thought of your next brilliant idea. You’re ready to get started and get this course into the hands of the people who need it. You’ve got your topic and you’re gearing to go.
One problem: What’s next? What’s the next step after thinking of an idea?
More on that to come (and, video below!). But first, I want to share a story with you of not having a plan.
I vividly remember three of the most physically painful days in my life:
Battling Food Poisoning —Injuring my knee —And, running the L.A. Marathon with NO prior training.
Running a marathon without training? I was a complete dummy!
My friend called me the night before the marathon, and I excitedly agreed to run it.
Naturally, I did what any crazy woman would do who signs up the day before a race – I went out and bought some new gear! (A girl’s gotta look cute when she’s running, right?)
I thought this was going to be no sweat – I’ve been a distance runner since high school. So, with my new shoes laced up, my mind ready, I was set to go.
Quickly, I learned that I was terribly wrong! I limped. I cramped. I hobbled. I dragged myself across that finish line.
Yeah, I finished. But, it was the crappiest, toughest, most painful finish ever!
My problem: a serious lack of preparation. No training. No step-by-step way to take me from running 1mile to 26.2miles.
I’ve since run 2 more marathons and a handful of half marathons. The difference? I spent a lot of time training and using running plans to build up to the final race.
Creating an Online Course is like Training for a Marathon
You’ve got to prepare and take it step by step. Rome wasn’t built in a day. I didn’t become a marathoner in a day. Creating a course can’t be done in a day.
The answer to what’s next: You need a plan, chica!
You need something that will get you from point A to point B. Something that’s going to help you finish your marathon. Check out this video below for a quick Road map created to answer that question: What’s Next? Download the PDF below to follow along.
Let me hear from you! I regretted running that marathon. What’s one thing you regret doing? And, what changes did you put in place so it wouldn’t happen again?
